da dobrowin: Reports claim Newcastle will demand £35m to part ways with Ayoze Perez this summer, so should they cash in if that price tag is met?
According to Football Insider, the Magpies have placed a £35m price on Perez, who has been nothing short of sensational in the second half of the season.
The Spaniard talked earlier this year about wanting to play again in La Liga though, and in his recent interview with The Telegraph he sounded open to leaving Tyneside.
He has scored 11 goals in all competitions, and the writers at Football FanCast have given their verdict on whether the Magpies should sell up. Keep reading to find out what they said…

“Perez is somewhat of an enigma, he is currently in the form of life but it would be no surprise to anyone if he was absolutely woeful for the next 10 games. Having signed the Spaniard for just £1.5m, the prospect of selling him for £35m will have Ashley drooling. If anyone is willing to pay that astonishing price tag then Newcastle should be biting their hands off.”

“Ayoze Perez continues to deceive even himself I think. No one really seems to know how good he is or how good he’ll become but I think he’s gone quite under the radar at Newcastle considering he’s never been seen as the club’s central striker. If Newcastle pump the money into signing a replacement then it would certainly be a worthwhile sale. However, if it’s going straight back into Mike Ashley’s pockets it would be unforgivable.”

“Newcastle should tread carefully. Selling Perez seems like something of a no-brainer – receiving £35m for a player who cost £1.5m is a ridiculous profit – but there is no guarantee that owner Mike Ashley will then reinvest that money. Indeed, it may actually vindicate the hated owner, who could potentially use such a deal as another reason not to put his hand in his pocket in coming transfer windows.”
