da mrbet: According to the Daily Telegraph’s Midlands football reporter John Percy on Twitter, Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez is on the verge of completing a £12m move to West Bromwich Albion, which could rise to £15m with add-ons.
da wazamba: Percy says the deal for the 27-year-old could be done as soon as Sunday, with the Daily Telegraph previously reporting that Rodriguez is free to leave the south coast outfit this summer following another frustrating campaign.
The attacker made 34 appearances in all competitions for Saints last term – scoring six goals – but he often found himself behind the likes of Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini in the pecking order under Claude Puel.
Despite the sacking of the Frenchman and the appointment of Mauricio Pellegrino, Rodriguez is still set to leave St Mary’s for pastures new after struggling to rediscover the form he showed in the 2013/14 campaign, before he suffered a serious injury against Manchester City just weeks before the 2014 World Cup.
Southampton supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and while some were disappointed at the news considering how much of an impact the attacker made just a few years ago, others believe it is the right decision and a good deal for the club.
