da 888casino: Newcastle United are interested in signing French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, according to The Daily Mail.
da dobrowin: The Marseille forward has impressed this season, scoring 13 Ligue 1 goals and now the Premier League side are ready to add another Frenchman to their squad, after a sudden influx of players from across the Channel.
Gignac, who has been likened to have a similar style to former Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, has also been linked with a move to Everton and Swansea. But Newcastle fancy their chances of signing the 27-year-old, who is well known to chief scout Graham Carr.
The forward hasn’t featured for the French national team since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where he played a total of just 95 minutes as France crashed out of the competition in the group stages with just one point to their name.
But after a tough season with Marseille, Gignac has finally rediscovered his form this season, scoring three times in the Europa League and resulting in the French club asking for £12million for the former Toulouse forward.
The Toon have also been linked with Vitesse Arnham striker Wilfried Bony, who is reportedly the subject of a bid from Swansea. However, recent reports suggest Joe Kinnear is apparently pursuing other targets, and won’t be challenging Swansea for the Ivorian’s signature.
Would Gignac do well at Newcastle? Should they sign him instead of Bony?
