After a woeful start to the season and life at the Olympic Stadium, West Ham United have fought back well to quell the threat of relegation and secure their safety for another season and this weekend sees them come toe-to-toe with a Watford side who will also have no concerns about relegation.
With both sides safe, out of the cup competitions and well of the European places, their campaigns are at risk of falling into a bit of a lull and this weekend’s match will be a stern test of the focus of the players on both sides.
Earlier this season, Watford battled back from 2-0 down to secure a victory over West Ham at the Olympic Stadium in a dramatic turnaround and they’ve been backed to secure another three points this weekend by BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson.
“Watford have had their wobble and, like West Ham, I think their relegation worries are over. The Hornets mounted a stunning comeback from 2-0 down to beat the Hammers at the London Stadium earlier in the season, but this should be a more straightforward win for them.”
Victory for Watford would see them leapfrog West Ham in the Premier League standings and potentially move into the top-half of the table, whilst also extending their advantage over the drop-zone.
